Eyelid Aesthetics, medically known as blepharoplasty, is the surgical correction of sagging, puffiness, or excess skin on the upper or lower eyelids. It is preferred both for aesthetic reasons and to address physical issues that narrow the field of vision. While it provides a younger, more refreshed, and alert appearance, it also offers functional benefits.
Overview of the Treatment
Performed for sagging upper eyelids and puffiness in the lower eyelids
Considered a medical necessity when sagging impairs the visual field
Provides a younger and more refreshed facial expression
Completed in a short time under local anesthesia
Incisions are hidden within the natural crease lines
Suitable for both women and men
Offers permanent and natural-looking results
The procedure is usually performed under local anesthesia. If needed, mild sedation may also be administered.
Excess skin, fat tissue, and sagging muscle are removed. The incision is made along the natural crease of the eyelid, making the scar almost invisible after healing.
Fat pockets that accumulate under the lower eyelid are removed or reshaped. If necessary, excess skin is also excised. Incisions can be made just below the lash line or from the inside of the eyelid.
The operation typically takes 30–60 minutes, and patients are usually discharged on the same day.
Swelling and bruising usually subside within 5–7 days. Stitches are typically removed on the 5th day. Full recovery occurs within a few weeks.
