How Is ReLEx SMILE Laser Eye Surgery Performed?

In ReLEx SMILE, only a small opening of 2 to 4 millimeters is created in the cornea. Using a laser, a thin disc-shaped tissue (lenticule) is prepared within the corneal layers. This lenticule is then extracted through the small incision.


Anesthesia
Local anesthesia is applied using eye drops before the procedure. This ensures that no pain is felt during the treatment.


Lenticule Creation
The surgeon uses a laser to create a thin lenticule within the corneal tissue and then makes a small incision in the cornea.


Lenticule Removal
The created lenticule is removed through the small incision. As a result, the cornea is reshaped, correcting the refractive error in the eye.
