Smart Lens (Trifocal Intraocular Lens) Treatment

Smart Lens Treatment is a permanent solution especially suitable for cataract patients or individuals who do not wish to use glasses or contact lenses. These special lenses, also known as trifocal intraocular lenses, are implanted after removing the natural eye lens. After the treatment, both visual quality improves and the need for glasses is significantly reduced.

Overview of the Treatment

  • Suitable for individuals over the age of 40 who experience near vision problems

  • Treats both cataracts and refractive errors in patients with cataracts

  • Ideal for individuals with myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, and presbyopia (difficulty seeing up close)

  • Reduces or completely eliminates dependence on glasses and contact lenses

  • A permanent solution — no need for lens replacement throughout life

  • A safe surgical procedure performed with laser technology

  • Careful patient selection increases the success rate

Brief Summary of the Treatment

  • Permanent Clarity: Provides clear vision at near, intermediate, and far distances

  • Glasses-Free Life: Significantly reduces or eliminates the need for glasses or contact lenses

How Is Smart Lens Treatment Performed?

Anesthesia
Before the procedure, local anesthesia is applied using eye drops. General anesthesia is not required.

Removal of the Natural Lens
First, the eye's natural lens (or cataract-affected lens, if present) is removed through a small incision.

Insertion of the Trifocal Lens
A trifocal artificial lens, which focuses on near, intermediate, and far distances simultaneously, is placed in place of the removed natural lens.

Recovery Process Begins
The procedure takes approximately 10–15 minutes. The patient is discharged the same day. Vision typically starts to improve significantly within a few days.

Follow-up and Eye Drops
After the procedure, the prescribed eye drops must be used regularly. Follow-up appointments, especially in the first week, should not be missed.

These check-ups help support optimal healing and allow for early detection of any possible complications.
