Online Astigmatism Test

Check in one minute whether you see the lines equally sharp in every direction. The online counterpart of the clock-dial method used at our practice in Izmir.

Could astigmatism be behind your blurred vision?

Blurred vision, ghosted text and halos around lights are the most common signs of astigmatism. People often put it down to tiredness, yet lines appearing darker in one direction is a simple clue.

The test assesses the right and left eye separately. If a suspicion arises, it is confirmed at our practice in Alsancak, Izmir, with autorefractometer measurement and corneal assessment; astigmatism can be corrected with a high success rate using glasses, lenses or laser.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is the astigmatism test performed?

The test assesses the right and left eye separately. At each stage you are asked to cover one eye with your hand and move about an arm’s length away from the screen. If you wear glasses or contact lenses, keep them on.

If I see the lines differently, do I have astigmatism?

Seeing the lines in one direction as darker, thicker or sharper can be a sign of astigmatism, but this alone is not a diagnosis. A definite result requires autorefractometer measurement and an examination by an ophthalmologist.

Can astigmatism be corrected with laser?

Yes, astigmatism can be treated with a high success rate using glasses, contact lenses and modern laser methods such as SMILE Pro, LASIK and No-Touch PRK. Suitability is determined at the examination based on corneal thickness and topography.
